Corus staff step out in tribute to Hugh

Aug 11 2004

By Evening Gazette

Corus workers have put their best foot forward for a good cause.

They have turned trekker power into cash during the Hugh Fox memorial walk.

The team of colleagues, including Hugh's two daughters, hiked 125 miles from Scunthorpe to Teesside to raise £8,000.

Hugh worked at the Scunthorpe and Teesside sites before moving to the company's training college at Ashorne, Warwickshire. He died in a walking accident on Helvellyn.

Andrew Page, managing director, Corus Construction and Industrial, saw the walkers off from Scunthorpe.

Starting their journey with a steam train ride, they made their way through Broughton woods on their route to Teesside.

At Teesside, Colin Muncie, managing director, Teesside Cast Products, welcomed them at the end of their seven-day challenge.

The walk will have raised around £4,000. That cash, when added to all the other fund raising events in Hugh's memory, will see well over £8,000 raised.

The money will help buy rescue equipment for the Patterdale mountain rescue team which helped and gave their support at the time of the accident.
