Forget chocolate, brazil nuts are great for a mood boost (and much better for your waistline!)
Dietician Amelia Lake recommends brazil nuts which contain selenium to ensure you stay in a good mood.
She said: "Selenium has been shown to improve mood so an intake of dietary selenium from sources such as brazil nuts can make you feel happier and lessen depression."
Amelia, a research associate at Newcastle's University's Human Nutrition Research Centre, also recommends eating plenty of oily fish because Omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids play a role in mental wellbeing.
"You find Omega-3 oils in things like sardines, anchovies, salmon and mackerel," she explained. "If you don't like fish, you can get Omega-3 oils in walnuts and pumpkin seeds and pecan nuts too."
