Not that I am encouraging the summer to go any faster than I'm sure it will, but this week we have another sneaky look ahead to next season's fashions at Arcadia brand Wallis. Wallis simplifies its autumn/winter collection into just two distinctive trends, drawing inspiration from Siberia for casual wear and a touch of Edwardian glamour appears in evening wear. The Eastern European feel of casual wear is luxurious, featuring a great deal of embellishment and prints for individuality. Chunky knits and dark denim are teamed with peasant tops in rich purples, reds and a multitude of other autumn berry colours. For a more dressy feel, team them with slim tailored trousers rather than denim. Accessorise with chunky tooled leather belts and bags, and keep out the seasonal chill with a boho sheepskin gilet. Wallis designers are renowned for their coats . . . and this season is no exception. Take your pick from fitted jackets embellished with brocade, or go for brighter, bolder florals that really make a statement. I will be making a bee-line for our featured soft grey suede coat (pictured above) priced at £150 and well worth every penny. Wallis also picks up on the military theme that promises to feature on the high street again next season, with frock coats and corset detailing on jackets. Wear with your favourite denim and crisp white shirts or dress them up with ultra-long skirts and embellished tops. Evening wear travels back in time and takes on an Edwardian feel with chiffon blouses and fitted waistcoats, tiered ribbon skirts and the must-have corset top. Even shoes take on an old-fashioned feel with lace-up round-toed boots.
Luxurious fabrics such as silk and velvet adorn dresses and full skirts. For those who prefer trousers, tailored pants are also available. Colours include rich warm reds and burgundy, midnight blues and soft creams. Cover up with beautiful Russian-style and faux fur capes to complete your evening look. The entire collection is true to the Wallis customer . . . oozing style and elegance, with wonderful tailoring alongside casual wear. Be sure to be first in line next season. Don't forget to keep watching the fashion pages over the summer months for more sneaky looks at the season ahead from Topshop and Dorothy Perkins . . . so you really can stay ahead in the fashion stakes. |
