Middlesbrough tried to offload Joseph-Desire Job to Paris St Germain just before the transfer window closed - but failed to negotiate a deal in time.
The Cameroon international signed for £3 million from Lens in August 2000, but had a disappointing first two years at the Riverside, going on loan to Metz last season.
A return to form this term attracted interest from PSG last month but with a deal failing to materialise before the transfer deadline, the 25-year-old has turned his attention back to Boro - and stopping the rot.
"We have to start winning immediately or before we know it we'll be fighting a relegation battle," he told the icons.com website.
"Our slide down the table is very worrying. At the start of the season we were up in third place and now we've slipped to 14th with only one point from our past five games.
"There are a lot of games to go, but we have to react now, as soon as possible. I look at our remaining fixtures and there's no-one who will give us any points. Everybody needs points themselves."
