Agree with Paul.
'Tees Valley' is a PR Creation and the only 'creation' it is doing is earning these companies £1,000's upon £1,000's to re brand the area with inferior brand. South of the Tees is Yorkshire ! North of the Tees is Durham! This original branding is well known across the world.
Teesside is dead along with the other 1970s Labour branding for votes of Merseyside, Tyneside, Humberside, Deeside and the like.
Liverpool or Gateshead didint brand Merseyside or Tyneside as cities of culture in their recent bids.
So why should Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool, Thornaby or Redcar put up with Teesside or Tees Valley?

I remember the area as as srrounded by a large horse shoe.
Does High Force count as a valley?
Teesside Airport used to be an RAF base, Middleton Saint George.
There was another RAF airbase near Thornaby, as well as another airfiled near Marske.
It's been a while since I arrived in Middlesbrough (1957), I am sure it was then in the North Riding of Yorkshire.
I heard a few years ago that Yorkshire was acceptable as the postal address.
I started off around Newport Cannon Street, being looked after by my Grand Parents, Joe Rennie Wearmouth.
The Newport bridge was at the back of the house. It was quite a sight to see it lifting into the air, and the ships passing through.
I cannot believe the town of Middlesbrough has not yet been praised for it's provision of the ever popular parmo! Come on Boro!

Of course Teesside has a valley, it is a valley! There are many vantage points from which this can clearly be seen.
The top of Ormeby Bank or Eston Hills. Why not go to Lord Stones cafe and wander to the edge of the escarpment. Even the road from Stokesley to Acklam has good viewing points. The river Tees runs through the valley and the land rises away from the Tees to the north and to the south.
This is a great place to live because it has everything from the benefits of town life to the Cleveland Hills and the North Yorkshire Moors, in addition to a majestic coastline. To add to this we have one of the top ten football clubs in England and the best in the North -East. How lucky we are!
Originally from ingleby barwick. I was suprised to see you have not added that ingleby is the biggest and fastest growing housing estate in europe!!!!!!!!

I can't believe you haven't included the Billingham International Folklore Festival in your list.
Linthorpe pottery established in 1879 by John Harrison and Christopher Dresser, was one of the most innovative of the Victorian era. Dresser was an important modernist designer, considered by many to have been an influence on future Art Nouveau and Modernist designers. He produced about 150 original designs for the pottery.
Henry Tooth the potterys first manager was responsible for developing a range of highly distinctive, iridescent glazes, that were produced no where else in Europe. During its 10 year life span over 2300 different ceramic shapes. Many of which were very futuristic and would not look out of place in a modern minimalist setting.
Linthorpe ceramics have become highly collectable, quite valuable and are well respected throughout the world.
The Dorman Museum on Linthorpe Road has probably the largest collection of Linthorpe ceramics in the world and is well worth a visit. Collections have also been exhibited at the VA Museum, London.
Durham's indian fare, Tees friendly cabbies, Middlebourgh's doctors, Hartlepool's fine lawyers and the Durham's liveliest union parade are some of my reasons for expounding on the area's virtures.
I thoroughly agree with Paul, 'Tees Valley' is a non-sensical creation. People from the rest of the country are confused enough of our identity. Teesside will do just fine thanks!

Tees Valley is a PR incarnation.. Teesside has no valley the airport is not in Durham. It's a great place to live because of the surrounding countryside.
