Cash boost funds growth

A North Tyneside IT company expects to be seeing double next year after setting itself two ambitious challenges.
C2ke, based at Orion Business Park, aims to double the size of its workforce and double its turnover by the middle of 2007. The company, run by husband and wife team Simon and Lynn King, provides IT support for SMEs in almost every industry sector in the region as well as larger national and international businesses. It set itself the targets after Business Link in Tyne & Wear helped to secure a major funding boost - £24,000 - from regional development agency One NorthEast to help its growth.
The grant, from the Selective Finance for Investment in England fund, was approved after c2ke met stringent criteria to prove it had the potential to develop its existing business for the benefit of the regional economy.
Lynn King says: "We have exciting times ahead. The new structure we will put in place will mean the directors of the company have more time to dedicate to the growth of the company and the quality of the services we provide to our clients."
The company has already launched its recruitment drive to increase employee numbers from five to 10, with the first two appointments being made this month. It was established in 1997 and offers on-site and remote IT maintenance and support including back-up, anti-virus and security.
Ken Samson, business finance manager at One NorthEast, says: "While the agency wants to attract large national and international companies to the region, we are equally committed to helping small, home-grown businesses.
"We know how important they are to our economy, and the part they can play in us achieving our aim of being the number one business location of choice."
