Find out more as 'Ghost ships' plan is expanded

Nov 11 2005

Naomi Paylor, Evening Gazette

New proposals relating to the dismantling of Hartlepool's 'ghost ships' are going on display to the public.

The pLAN for a dry dock, which would be used to recycle the defunct US navy vessels, now includes several additional elements.

These relate to dredging within the dock basin, the site's drainage system and a temporary secondary clay bund.

Further information has also been added to the environmental impact statement.

Planning officials have announced a further period of public consultation to enable local people to find out more.

Copies of the plans and environmental statement can be viewed at Hartlepool Council's Bryan Hanson House offices in Lynn Street until Wednesday, December 7.

* Comments can be sent in writing by December 7 to Principal Planning Officer, Roy Merret, at the Development Control Section, Bryan Hanson House, Hanson Square, Lynn Street, Hartlepool TS24 7BT.
