My and my pet

Aug 2 2004

Laura Browne runs Merrylegs Canine Hydrotherapy Centre in Thirsk.

What pets do you have?

I have a horse, two ponies, four cats and six dogs. Two of the dogs are my sister's but we count them all as ours.

What are they called and why?

The horse is called Sunny and the ponies are Bailley and Bambi. They were all named before I bought them.

The cats are called Mummy Cat, Baby Cat, BB and Tigger.

The dogs are: a flat-coated retriever called Teddy, short for Edward, a Border terrier called Thea, named after my grandma Dorothea, a Border collie called Jill and Rosie a Cavalier King Charles.

My sister's dogs are cross breeds, Kanga, who came from the Dog's Trust with the name, and Roux (pronounced Roo) to go with Kanga.

Where and when did you get them?

All came from different places, too many to describe.

What is the funniest thing your pet has ever done?

They all do funny things all of the time. The other day Thea was outside playing. We have a big wooden toadstool in the garden. When I looked out of the window to see what they were up to there she was sitting on top of the toadstool.

Any yucky pet moments?

No specific ones but when you have this many pets they are quite frequent.

If your pet could speak what would he/she say?

Teddy would be asking when he is next going to the swimming pool and Thea would be asking when she was getting fed next.

What was your first pet and what was it called?

My first pet was Sophie, a black Labrador.

What animal best describes you?

I can't think.

If you could keep any animal in the world what would it be and why?

I would love to keep some seahorses as I think they are beautiful.
