Sheep 'shot between eyes'

Jul 13 2004

By Evening Gazette

Cruel thugs have slaughtered sheep in two vicious attacks on a Teesside farm.

In both cases the two sheep appear to have been shot between the eyes with an air weapon.

The latest attack on Brierton Heights farm, Dalton Piercy, Hartlepool, was discovered by the farmer at about 2.15pm on Sunday.

The earlier slaughter was discovered at about 8.10am on Friday.

It also had an air weapon wound between its eyes.

The sickening attacks are believed to have been carried out by the killers hiding and luring the animals to them.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "The people responsible for these sickening and cruel acts appear to have hidden in bushes and lured the sheep to their deaths."

Two youths - aged 14 to 16 - were seen on the farm, carrying air weapons in the weeks prior to the incidents.
