"It's kind of funky isn't it? It's different and something you just don't expect to see in Middlesbrough. But I do think people will get confused by it". - Paul Southall, 18 of Saltersgill
"It could have been more pleasing to the eye," said Gordon Shippey, 30, of Central Middlesbrough. "And I wonder how many people would have asked for a piece of art like this."
John Webster, of Southfield Road, said: "It's a load of rubbish and it isn't very attractive. I've got better pieces of art than that in my flat."
Paul Southall, 18 of Saltersgill, said: "It's kind of funky isn't it? It's different and something you just don't expect to see in Middlesbrough. But I do think people will get confused by it. I would text it if I had any credit on my phone."
Annabel Beadnall, 18, of Linthorpe, said: "When I saw it I just thought what is it? It's just so random. Now it's here and looks good but in six months time I might not even notice it."
Lorren Mitchell, 15, of Normanby, said: "It will just have stuff written all over it. Which is a shame because it looks pretty at night."
Laura Smith, 16, of Coulby Newham, said: "I just don't understand why they've done it. It isn't going to bring anyone into Middlesbrough even though it is unique."
Mark Spayne, 21, of Stockton, said: "I think the money spent on this could have been better spent. It won't be long before it's just there and people will stop caring about it."
Michelle Garriques, 19, of Billingham, said: "I think it looks quite pretty and it brightens up the middle of town."
