A man who was caught videoing up women's skirts and searching the Internet for child porn was jailed for six months.
Salesman Terence Dickinson, 52, was seen touring shops carrying a briefcase with a baseball cap hanging from one corner. A store detective wondered what Dickinson was up to when he placed the case on the floor near women and removed the cap.
As the detective Stephen Fitzgerald fol-lowed him around Stokesley High Street he decided to challenge married Dickinson, said prosecutor Paul Newcombe at Teesside Crown Court yesterday.
Mr Fitzgerald identified himself and removed the cap to reveal a protruding video camera lense, the court was told.
He detained Dickinson who became agitated and said "I haven't done anything wrong" before he broke free and ran off, the court heard. Police were called and inside the case they found the camera, photographs of women under their skirts, and a pair of knickers.
A search of Dickinson's home had revealed 97 images of children under 16 on a computer belonging to his wife, the court heard. Dickinson, of Collingwood Chase, Brotton, admitted looking at websites but denied doing anything with them. His exposure cost him everything -his job, marriage and home, said Richard Bennett, defending.
Mr Bennett said Dickinson had voluntarily sought psychiatric help and was appalled by his behaviour.
Judge David Bryant said the message had to be sent out that such behaviour would not be tolerated.
Dickinson admitted outraging public decency by behaving in an indecent manner on September 4. He admitted six charges of making indecent photographs of children on September 2.
