Lambs to slaughter

Mar 11 2005

By Evening Gazette

Your correspondents White, Kirk and Batchelor are opposed to hunting. Fair enough, but they cannot be of country stock.

I have farmed for 50 years and if these three had ever seen small lambs torn to shreds at lambing time they would be more sympathetic.

Now hunting of foxes is banned, most farmers are going to shoot them. I wonder if that is what they want to happen.

Hunting culled foxes but shooting may wipe them out altogether. Is that what the three of them want, or do they also want to get shooting banned?

These three are in the same mould as Tony Blair, who seems to be against all countryside and farming activities.

Blair will lose many votes from us country folk.

N COOK, Stokesley
