The magic of organ donors: When Linzi Hodgson walks down the aisle unaided to marry fiance Neil Featherston it will be a magical occasion showing the power of love - and of medical technology. Transplant surgery is a modern-day miracle that transforms lives.

And if Linzi's story, and that of her friend Vicky Pettersen, show us anything it is the real value of organ donorship.

Here are two women whose day to day existence was blighted by Cystic Fibrosis until they received double lung transplants. The change for them has been dramatic.

Linzi, whose sister Claire died of the disease, can now look forward to her wedding day with excitement. Her walk down the aisle will no longer be the trauma she feared, it will be the joyful moment it should be.

Vicky's improved standard of life is demonstrated publicly and proudly when she takes part in the British Transplant Games. She, and all the competitors, are glowing examples of how much good can come from organ donorship.

The plea from Linzi, Vicky, and from every person waiting for a transplant, is for us all to think about carrying a donor card.

Many more donors are needed. And when a transplant patient describes her life-enhancing operation as a Lottery win, it puts that shortfall in context.

We wish Linzi and Vicky every joy for the future. And we hope successful transplants will bring new life to many others.

Dangerous fun: When the sun comes out the coastguard is called out too. We could have been reporting on real tragedy this weekend as children were blown out to sea in dinghies. No one was drowned but the danger signals are loud and clear. We must all heed them.

Fun in the sun can so easily end in disaster.
