Streets ban for teen tearaway

Jan 6 2005

By Evening Gazette

A teenage tearaway has been slapped with an interim Anti-social Behaviour Order.

Jeanette Thompson, who represents Middlesbrough Council, told Teesside Magistrates that the council had received about 50 complaints about the youngster over a six-month period.

The 16-year-old boy from Grove Hill - who cannot be named for legal reasons - is bound by the order for two weeks. He is banned under the order from an area bordered by Marton Road, Keith Road, The Vale, Marton Burn Road, Valley Road and Park Road South.

He must not congregate in a group of more than three or cause harassment, alarm and distress to anyone. He is banned from threatening anyone or using insulting or abusive words or behaviour.

The teenager's order lasts until January 19 when an application for a full ASBO is expected to be heard.
